Introduction to music
Music has always been present in my life. The hands of a musician and their complexity accomplished during performance has always filled me with awe and curiosity. How do they work? How is human being capable of such creation? At the age of 16 a high school friend introduced me to Metallica. I fell in love with “Orion”, an eight-minute instrumental piece filled with heavy guitar riffs and beautiful harmonies. I needed a guitar. Convenience and fortune lent me a hand when a fellow student had one for sale and a good friend had the money to lend. I became obsessed with; Deep Purple’s “Highway Star”, Hendrix’s “Little Wing” & “Burning of the Midnight Lamp”, Vai’s “For the Love of God” and many others.
I wanted to play the loudest and the fastest. Achieving the latter was simple, turn up the volume knob on my transistor radio. The absolute perfect way to annoy just about everyone at my dorm.
I started my first “sort of band” as many do, with a friend and in the relegated basement at our high school. We didn’t take it too far, as I actually left for NYC a short time thereafter. One more thing worth mentioning about that era is my character building amplifier; it was built in a shoebox! You must remember, this was Poland shortly after eastern block finally collapsed.
New York became the place for me to grow as a musician. I saw the best perform live and I got inspired again and again. In the past ten years I’ve delved into all sorts of genre from my introductory roots in heavy metal and rock and roll to the eclectic sounds of motion picture scores and timeless classical pieces.
I’ve played professionally with bands in NYC and collaborated on a couple of demo CD’s. However as of yet I have not delivered publicly any of my personal sound. Now I feel like I owe it to myself and some stalwart supporters to make a contribution to music, which at times has been my best and only friend. I am working on a few different pieces. You can use the player below to listen to some samples. Choose the low or high quality stream based on your internet connection.
There is more to come and hopefully by the end of this year I’ll have a full demo CD ready and can get back to playing live. I’d also like to mention and invite other musicians, who can relate to these sounds, please contact me as I am looking to connect with others for collaborative projects.
Thanks for listening
